Overall had a great time. Great beer provided by Sycamore. Enjoyed eats from Street Spice, and a meat skewer truck. Lines moved quickly. I’m a dog owner but found the presence of so many kinda overwhelming in this spot. Wish I understood the parking situation ahead of time as I was greeted by a boot on my car when I left.

So, admittedly this review is for Food Truck Friday in its new location in Plaza Midwood. The page isn’t set up for the new venue, but since it’s a continuation of the old Food Truck Friday I’m leaving my review here. The short view — there were far too many people for half the number of trucks that used to be at the old location. By the time we arrived at 6:45, there was a 40+ minute wait at every truck with several of the trucks already out of one or more items on their menus.
I do not have a reason to come back to a food truck rally when I can find a food truck at any given brewery on any night. While this should be fun, the number of people to number of trucks was overwhelming and resulted in a very frustrating experience.
If you do decide to go, a couple of tips:
1) arrive early — before 6 p.m.
2) bring chairs
3) walk across the street and grab beers at harris teeter
4) bring your (well-behaved) dogs

I have only been to Food Truck Friday in South End once and only stayed for a little while, it was way too packed. You must get there early if you want to stay longer and chill, parking is atrocious. I love that Papi Queso frequents this event, we ordered a lobster mac and cheese grilled cheese and a green munster grilled cheese. A little pricey, but very good.
We will be back for more but, I’ll definitely get there early to walk around and enjoy the other trucks. There are quite a few that come out. Cheers!

We absolutely loved the new location at Sycamore Brewing! It is definitely a great relationship to have for the South End. Parking was much easier; we were even ably to score a spot on the street! In addition to easier parking it’s also located with a 2 min walk right off the Light Rail at the East West Boulevard. It’s very nice to have the additional picnic table seating provided by Sycamore so you don’t necessarily have to bring your own camping chair anymore. It was also very convenient to have the Sycamore mobile tap station set up right by all of the food trucks to help keep the lines down at the bar plus they even offered pitchers (which not many breweries in the area do)!! They even had a live band playing in their outside area stage which added to the fun atmosphere.
It is truly amazing the level of quality food that one can have from a food truck! Tonight’s selection was well rounded and totally feel that Oowee BBQ does not get enough attention for its Barbecue Sundae which is to die for! My concern is that once it gets warmer, I’m hoping that they are planning to have a few more food trucks to help cut down on wait lines and food run out.
All in all, Food Truck Friday — South End now at Sycamore is a huge improvement and had a great time stuffing my face!

After living in Charlotte for a little over a year, I finally got the chance to go to food truck Friday, and I can’t wait until next Friday!
We didn’t get there until 7308 and it was still super busy! There were so many trucks I was a little overwhelmed. But we did a few laps to figure out what we wanted. We needed up getting wings from Wingz on Wheelz and bbq from the only BBQ truck there (can’t remember the name). Wings were fantastic! Honey BBQ served with house made chips that I could not get enough of! BBQ was also awesome, pulled pork with 2 sides-Mac and cheese and pasta salad. More than enough food!
Most importantly, dessert!!! We were disappointed that the cupcake truck sold out of cupcakes but what we got was even better. It was an apple crumb cheesecake… OMG if I could eat that every day all day I would! If you go, you must try this!
Everything was so good that I couldn’t stop. Before we left I got a grilled cheese from Queso. It was the pig grilled cheese-pulled pork and Mac and cheese. Deeeeeelicious, another must try!
Overall a huge success and I can’t wait to go back!

Food from a Truck never taste so good especially when it’s various trucks doing various recipes and approaches.
My only WHUmp WHUmp about this festival is the fact that some trucks alternate and once you have a taste for something you actually WANT it and it sucks when that truck isn’t there that week.
It’s a perfect spot I strongly suggest bringing your chair or blanket along with some wet wipes. There could be more of a variety of trucks but the trucks there are usually tasty minus a few. The Common Market is next to the location which will allow you to go buy some co*cktails to indulge in while eating. I just think it would be better if there was more space with no dirt.
Our favorite truck is Sugar, she make homemade donuts the vanilla bean is THEE BEST. There are some picnic tables out there which is nice for those without chairs or blankets.
Overall nice event to attend with family and or friend

All the food options looked great! I do wish there were a few more trucks since the lines were so ridiculous. And why can’t you get your beer opened at common market and walk across the parking lot? Nevertheless, it’s a great way to end the workweek

This was cool. I envy Charlotte for the mere fact that they can have something like this every Friday. Back home (Connecticut), we may have something like this happen maybe a couple times in a year in various parts of the state — but you have to travel for it! The idea of a weekly food truck (and strong BYOB) gathering to enjoy some time with friends is just perfection to me. So anyway, I arrived at around 7pm on my visit and it also happened to be a FanFest night for the Panthers so finding parking was crazy! The place was packed. Lines were long but I expected that. Don’t even thinking about complaining about lines here; it’s part of the game.
I went straight for the Papi Queso line to get the pulled pork and mac grilled cheese (cleverly named the Pig Mac). I had also stalked them on Twitter and saw a lobster and white cheddar option that wasn’t advertised on the truck in person. I asked if it was available and they confirmed that it was. Once of each please: D. 45 min in line had come to an end and I received my sandwiches. The Pig Mac was ok but not worth the wait. $ 8 was a fair price for it but the BBQ was a bit dry to me and the cheese wasn’t a great match. However the lobster one, which came with a side of hot butter sauce, was slammin! It was a bit higher at $ 12.50, but I suspect that if they were to add this one to their normal menu, they’d have a new bestseller.
I also stopped at Sticks and Cones for some soft serve. It looks like a standard ice cream truck with some standard soft serve but it’s not! Lol. I got a «caffeines and beans» sundae from them and, even without any toppings, that was some of the best (creamy flavorful, thick, smooth) vanilla soft serve I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!
This was a great little way to kick back with the fam and relax a little. When I’m back in Charlotte I plan on doing this all over again!

FTF is great! However, be prepared for very long lines. Also, you might want to bring your own chairs or blankets because there are only a few picnic tables in the area. It’s a great place to eat with friends, kids, and family. Also, dogs are welcome!

FINALLY I had a chance to visit Food Truck Friday. We parked and walked over, Of course it was 1000 Degrees outside!!!
First and only stop… Cuzzos. My fiancé and I ordered The Lobster Mac & Cheese with Cucumber Lemonade, Fried Tilapia and a side of fries. Keep in mind everything is Made to order, our food took about 20mins… The wait was totally worth it… I would highly recommend ordering the Lobster Mac & Cheese… out of this world AMAZING!!! Heaven in every bite. About $ 9…and made to order. Considering it was Hot outside The Cucumber lemonade was refreshing and sweet. Their Fried Tilapia was fried to perfection… and piping HOT!
We didn’t visit the other Food Trucks, instead we waddled around a few blocks until our food digested Haahaha! Word of advice, bring chairs.

This is a really cute thing to attend and I’m glad we finally decided to go this past Friday. We check the website and saw that you can bring dogs, so I liked that part! You can bring blankets and chairs and pretty much set up wherever you want. We had a small group of about 10 people, so finding space wasn’t an issue.
There were a lot of different food trucks and a lot of lines! I chose a BBQ truck and the food was ok — I would probably go to a different truck next time. I also made a stop at the donut truck and that was really good. This is definitely a fun thing to do!

Food truck Friday is awesome, that is about all there is to say. There are a variety of food trucks that come each week, about 8 and they park and sell. Plan to get there early or plan to stay late as the lines are crazy long. You will easily wait in line for 45 minutes.
Also bring something to sit on, the tables that are available there run out fast but there is plenty of room for blankets or fold out chairs etc.

Food Truck Friday is pretty much the most amazing thing ever… I mean, cupcake food truck, yay!!!
My husband and I have been out here many times, the most recent was this past Friday. Food Truck Friday is located beside Common Market in Historic Southend. Basically, there are about 10 or so food trucks and a lot of space to sit around (so make sure to bring a blanket or chairs!) We ended up eating at the amazing Chrome Toaster and got the pupusa special for the night (If you dont know what a pupusa is, google it and then go find the awesome Chef Aaron to get one… they are A-mazing!). $ 10 for a pupusa, side (fried mac and cheese… duh!) and drink. We got the Bahn Mi pupusa and Duck pupusa. Both were awesome.
As for Food Truck Friday, here are some tips:
BYOB– You can bring beer/wine out here. You can also buy this at Common Market and bring it out there. However, Common Market’s lines are suuuuuuuuuper long so I would suggest just bringing your own.
–Get there early. I believe it starts at 5 and hitting around 7 it is so slammed that alot of food choices are sold out and the lines are just way crazy.
–Lines…expect them. I mean think about it, one truck with a small handful of people are cooking your food. It’s actually pretty amazing that they are even able to pump out that much food so kuddos to the chefs/assistants! Grab a drink and expect a wait to order and a wait to receive. I have never once regretted my wait for food though!
–Parking is pretty darn aweful. Fortunately, my husband and I live walking distance so this isnt an issue. I would suggest parking at the 485 light rail stop and taking the light rail in. It saves you time, energy, and frustration.

I am absolutely without a doubt a fan of FTF!
There’s plenty of good food to I around, tons of people (excellent people watching) and everyone there is just having a great time.
You should be prepared for long lines (I found that the longest lines have some of best stuff!) So just enjoy the wait it’s a good chance to chat up the other people in line! I tried the Wingzzza truck and had the pizza and wings combo. It’s three wings with your choice of sauce, a slice (cheese or pepperoni) and a drink. Yummy! I really enjoyed it!
There are a lot more trucks that I’m looking forward to trying and with the weather starting to get warmer… I’ll be back :)

Anyone who knows me knows that I think food trucks are the greatest thing on the entire earth. Food Truck Friday is like heaven!
I was in Charlotte visiting a friend a couple of weeks ago, and Food Truck Friday was an excellent welcome into town. We tried Hot Box’s Pork Belly Sliders, and Chorizo Corn Dog, both of which were absolutely delicious. I wish NC food trucks had more (or really, any) house-made drinks available, which is something I love about my Minneapolis trucks. Regardless, great experience.
There are a ton of people at this, so be prepared to wait in some long lines. Also, bring a lawn chair or blanket so you have somewhere to sit once the few available benches are taken!
Wish I lived here so I could try out more of these glorious trucks. :)

Food Truck Friday is awesome but you better get there early or come prepared. Not a lot of tables so you either have to eat standing up or bring your own chair or blanket to park your rump.
Food Truck fare is awesome and offers a vast variety of choices for everyone’s taste buds. Absolutely love the Fish Tacos at Tin Kitchen and the crew is great. Herban Legend is another favorite so be sure to try the fried green tomato sandwich.
You will enjoy Food Truck Friday. Great food, atmosphere and great for people watching as well.

The only thing better than a truck is a truck that will serve me food. What’s better than that? An entire gang of them.
This weekly celebration goes down every Friday in Historic South End. You can find
a wide assortment of Charlotte’s best local food trucks. It’s a great way to support local businesses and have the chance to try a little bit of everything.
Things to know:
1) Parking is a disaster. Be prepared to search for a spot on a nearby street and hoof it.
2) It will be busy. Get there early for a good spot in the grass.
3) Bring lawn chairs and/or a blanket
4) You can BYOB. Common Market is also right there though if you want to pick something up when you arrive.
You will be able to identify the popular trucks easily. They will have the longest lines. If you are set on a grilled cheese from Papi Queso– you may have to wait an hour.
I love starting the night off here with friends. Very laid back and casual. You can expect to see all kinds of people. It’s also family, kid and dog friendly.
Parents– you may want to bring a thing of wet wipes for your kids. You never know when a cupcake or barbecue will turn into a face full of disaster.

FUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!! Hubs brought me here for Date Night and I was very thrilled that he looked up the info on his own.
I will def be a frequent attender of Food Truck Friday. Roaming Fork was by far my favorite and I couldn’t get enough of their fish tacos.
We didn’t sample every truck but wanted too. I suggest bringing chairs and BUG SPRAY. I was eaten alive by the little critters known as Mosquitos. Boo. And I also didn’t know that you could bring your own adult beverages. So next time we’ll bring that as well. Great way to end a weekend and do some serious eating while people watching!

Every Friday in Charlotte’s Southend neighborhood, a bunch of food truck gather to offer different types of fast food to their regular customers or the occassional customer looking for something quick but different.
The food trucks may change from week to week and the crowds depend on the weather. But usually there are at least 6 food trucks available to take your orders. But beware, on warmer nights, you may want to arrive earlier because the more popular the food truck, the quicker they run out of food.
I’ve been here twice so far and have loved it. The truck owners and staff are very friendly and accommodating and they definitely appreciate your business.
Food Trucks are no longer the roach coaches that many people once perceived them as. Options here are often better than some sit-down restaurants!
Check it out sometime!!!
